3 Moves the Cowboys Could Make to Help Fans Feel Better

All emotionally invested Cowboys fans are distraught. The world is ending. The Cowboys haven’t been players in the first round of free agency (shocking).

Randy Gregory is gone. The Cowboys didn’t sign Von Miller. They traded Amari Cooper and released La’el Collins all while failing to reach a deal with Jayron Kearse. But, I’m here to help you feel better (or maybe not). Here are 3 moves the Cowboys could make to at least help me feel better.

1.) Sign Bobby Wagner (Linebacker, Free Agent)

This is the most obvious one that would help ease the troubled waters surrounding the Cowboys. Do I think it is super realistic based on how they have played it to this point? No. But is it something they could do and might do? Yes.

Bobby Wagner has been the talk of the town since he was cut by the Seattle Seahawks just a little ago. It makes sense why he is, the Cowboys could use linebacker depth this year. They will likely lose Leighton Vander Esch and Keanu Neal, leaving them in need of a linebacker. I think Bobby Wagner fits perfectly into this defense, especially with Dan Quinn back as the signal-caller in Dallas.

I had to put this one first strictly to lift your spirits, now let us talk about some moves that should still excite you but I wouldn’t place money on.

2.) Trade for Laviska Shenault Jr. (WR, Jaguars)

Some of you may have heard of him. Maybe not. Either way, I am here to convince you to want this trade.

A reason for this is the overcrowded Jaguars WR room that filled up in the past 4 days. The Jaguars signed Christian Kirk, Zay Jones, they have Marvin Jones and Jamal Agnew. That wide receiver room is very crowded, potentially opening the door for a trade.

Laviska Shenault was a 2nd round pick in last year’s NFL draft. The Jaguars were not pleased with how he produced this past season as a rookie. How could you expect anything else from an Urban Meyer circus show? Shenault had 619 receiving yards while catching 63 passes during his rookie season. He did not catch a touchdown for the Jaguars.

3.) Sign a Defensive End (Za’Darius Smith, Jadeveon Clowney)

This is a stretch. Especially if the Cowboys make a move for Bobby Wagner. They lost Randy Gregory and it’s time to make up for the mistake. Za’Darius Smith is a name that has come back on the Cowboy’s radar after he backed out of his Baltimore Ravens deal ($8.5M per year). Jadeveon Clowney is a well-known pass rusher name that could help bolster this defensive line room. Adding a piece at the defensive end position would be a good move for the Cowboys.
